For those who don’t know about the Allan Cup, it’s been around since 1908. It was created to replace the Stanley Cup as the reward for the best amateur hockey team in Canada, when Lord Stanley’s mug had become a trophy for professional teams.
There is a documentary coming out about the Bentley Generals, who have been in the finals for the Allan Cup the last three years, and won it in 2009.
The documentary will be on TVO Wednesday May 12, 2010 at 8 pm MST (10 pm EST).
I happen to know the GM and a few of the players while meeting some of the others. If the documentary is half as good as the group of characters on the team, it will be well worth your time away from “Dancing With The Stars” or “American Idol” to watch.
