I hate hate hate the idea that cheerleaders are there to distract from what's on the ice. I'm sorry, that's bull. Cheerleaders entertain during intermissions, stoppages in play, etc. I guarantee you, having watched cheerleaders my whole life, that they will not be bouncing around or something during play.

Cheerleaders have nothing to do with the game not being entertaining. It's just a cultural product seeping from our side of the border. If someone is attending a game because of cheerleaders- then they clearly don't have the internet at home. Fact is, 90% of things at hockey games that aren't the game itself are no different than cheerleaders. Mascot races, little kids playing a game, t-shirt tosses, fancy videos, laser shows, having a giant shark's mouth to race out of. If anything, those are all worse than cheerleaders. At least the cheerleaders, you know, cheer.

I'm banking on the fact that your delirious state will continue for the rest of the year! I must say I do give you "props" for reviewing your predictions from last year and pointing out where you failed misserably. Looking forward to 2010/11 predictions and what your thoughts are on Ryan Mathews and CJ Spiller.

I would only put Backlund on the 4th line if he could get 10 minutes a game against easy competition. This works well at home, but is tougher on the road. He's not a solid enough two-way player yet to be on the top line against top competition.

I don't mind Bourque and Stajan together, I was just looking for the best line to match up against the oppositions best. Langkow, Bourque and Glencross are all capable of doing that. Stajan has played reasonably well, but he's been given easier competition and more offensive zone starts than Langkow or Conroy.
